From Brokenness to Revival — Thy Kingdom Come: Gugga Lísa’s Debut Album Calls All Hearts Into Intimate, Transforming Worship

Updated: Nov 10, 2025

A deeply personal beginning & a timely call

Icelandic singer-songwriter Gugga Lísa (Guðbjörg Elísa Hafsteinsdóttir) has released her debut album Komi Ríki Þitt (“Thy Kingdom Come”) a powerful  and deeply personal collection of songs born from deep faith, repentance, pain, personal healing journey, life’s rawest emotions and spiritual awakening. With a blend of multiple genres, each song is more than music. All of them carry a message that calls every heart, believer or seeker, broken or strong to turn to God, be renewed with grace, hope, and strength to rise above all.

This album is a timely call to open every part of our lives to the reign of God and prepare our hearts for His glory. Gugga shares that in these days, it is more vital than ever to become like the wise virgins of Matthew 25—awake, filled with oil, and ready for the Lord’s return.

A beautiful standout track , Virgin is about just that, and we strongly recommend a listen....for its raw honesty, emotional depth and the quiet strength it carries, both in message and melody.

“My prayer is that my album carries people into true communication  with God where hearts are stirred to worship and lives are transformed by His presence. That they will encounter Him deeply and personally. It’s all about what God desires to do in every listener's heart and life.”— Gugga Lisa says.

She gives God all the glory and emphasizes that the album would not exist without Him and all the gifted musicians, production team, and supporters who helped bring it to life, extending heartfelt gratitude and honor to each one for their precious work and remarkable contribution.

A song born from grief , tribute to a life of service and a visual farewell

The album’s opening track, Engillinn minn (“Angel Of Mine”), stands out as a heartfelt tribute to her late mother, Kristín Snæfells Arnþórsdóttir, who passed away in 2021 after a short battle with cancer. Though Gugga had released music before, she describes this song as her most personal work yet.  “The song had a part in helping me to work through my mourning, cast all my cares unto God and move forward,” she says and believes many people can experience the same.

Alongside the album, Gugga released a moving music video for “Engillinn minn” (“Angel of Mine”),

Gugga lísa filmed in her mother Kristín’s iconic fur coat—worn during historic civic protests in Iceland. She was a well known and a respected woman in Iceland, a great servant to people in need of all kinds. For example, in 1981 she founded a halfway house for women, which continues to serve in that mission to this day.

The music video serves a visual farewell, where Gugga Lisa releases her grief to God and invites viewers to find comfort in doing so themselves. Faith, surrender,  family heritage, musical flow & a declaration of The Lord’s Prayer

Komi Ríki Þitt (Thy Kingdom Come) features eleven original songs, several collaborations, and three powerful cover songs. The title track, “Komi ríki þitt”  is one of the cover songs. The lyrics in it are drawn from the Lord’s Prayer, honoring a prayer Gugga’s mother taught her as a child, one she held in her heart, even through seasons of rebellion until finding true faith. The song weaves this sacred prayer into its lyrics, releasing powerful worship into the atmosphere, declaring that everything born of God has the power to overcome the world.

Gugga Lisa’s music is rooted in her faith, worship, and her family’s strong legacy of prayer and faith on both sides. A standout track, Kvöldbæn (Evening Prayer) One of her first compositions was written to a prayer-poem by her great-great-grandfather, with the melody arriving “like an outpouring from heaven.” She says most of her songs come naturally, often in deeply emotional moments, flowing through her as divine gifts.

Kvöldbæn (Evening Prayer) and yet another standout track, Soldiers Of The Word Unite a powerful prophetic rock ballad calling God’s people to unite in prayer, were originally released years ago as live YouTube recordings. They became beloved in some Icelandic Christian communities as well as reaching listeners far beyond, drawing a diverse audience. Both songs are now featured on the album in newly produced, refined radio editions.

The album —  A testimony , journey of Faith,  Restoration through Worship & Prayer

Komi Ríki Þitt (“Thy Kingdom Come”) is certainly more than Gugga Lísa’s debut album—it is a spiritual journey and its themes range from personal surrender to spiritual resilience. A blend of heartfelt storytelling, worship, communication to God and listeners, a declaration of prayer, testimony and faith, it carries a message of salvation, healing, hope, repentance, and divine restoration.  Gugga witnesses that she felt as God carried her through life’s darkest moments. “In my deepest valleys, God met me,” she shares. “His Word, prayer, and worship became my greatest weapons through every trial.” She testifies that God has done great miracles in her life and urges listeners in these times to seek Him earnestly so they too can experience the same and even more, grow daily in their own relationship with Him and connect to other believers that can support them in their walk. She says it is very important that each individual prays for the right community of believers for them to connect to, that can support them in their calling in life. Most importantly, praying, reading & studying the bible themselves and with others.

Each song reflects a chapter of Gugga Lísa’s walk with God from grief to grace, brokenness to breakthrough. Always choosing Him above all else. This album is a declaration for God’s Kingdom to come within us and amongst us, on earth as in heaven. Rooted in deep prayer, worship, and honesty, it invites listeners into a sacred space where vulnerability meets victory, worship becomes a weapon through trials, and every melody stands as a testimony of God’s unfailing love and faithfulness, preaching the good news of the gospel to all people.

The album is now available on all major streaming platforms such as Spotify, iTunes and etc. as well as on Vinyl and CD in most Record Stores and church stores in Iceland.
